CONGO GORILLA EXPRESS TRACKING (4 DAYS)

This safaris starts and ends in Kigali, Rwanda. visit Congo via Uganda’s boarder at Kisoro. visit Mt. Mgahinga for nature walk and volcano climbing,Virunga National Park (covering an area of 790,000 ha) comprises an outstanding diversity of habitats, ranging from swamps and steppes to the snowfields of Rwenzori at an altitude of over 5,000 m, and from lava plains to the Savannah on the slopes of volcanoes. Mountain gorillas are found in the park, some 20,000 hippopotamuses live in the rivers and birds from Siberia spend the winter there. Visitors to Congo stay the night before in Uganda at Kisoro. Visas are arranged and obtained the day before, and the next day, they start early at 06:00hrs for the 2 hour journey to the Congo Gorilla Park.

ITINERARY

Day One: Arrive Kigali
On your arrival at Kanombe airport, you will meet and greet with our Driver guide before transferring to Kigali City. Depending on the time of arrival, you will go for city tour in Kigali and visit genocide memorials, traditional crafts can also be bought from the local markets before coming back to the hotel for dinner and overnight. O/N: Hotel Chez Lando (BB).

Day Two: Kigali – Kisoro Uganda
Today, you will drive to Kisoro in Uganda through Ruhengeri and on to the Cyanika boarder. Enjoy the beauty of Rwanda with rolling hills and its terrain. Finalize boarder arrangements and cross into Uganda. In the afternoon, you will either go for a guided nature walk in Gahinga or climb a volcano, visit the natural, beautiful-looking Lake Mutanda, surrounded by the volcanoes, take a walk on the shores. (approx. tine 4 hours). Lunch in Kisoro. O/N: Travellers Rest Hotel (FB).

Day Three: Gorilla tracking in Congo
After Breakfast, you will be taken with your packed lunch to the Bunagana boarder with Congo, from there drive to the Park Headquarters to be briefed about gorilla etiquette before setting off into the forest to track gorillas in Parc National des Virunga of Congo. Return to Uganda in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Travellers Rest Hotel (FB)

Day Four: Return to Rwanda and depart
Leave for Kigali in Rwanda after breakfast. Transfer to Kigali, time permitting you will have a city tour before the  transfer to the airport for your afternoon flight. [Approximate driving time: 4 hours]

ChimpanzeeVisit Parc National des Volcans (PNV) in the north of Rwanda where about 300 mountain gorillas live. There are five habituated gorilla families Amahoro A, Amahoro B, Group 13, Sabinyo, Umubano and Susa - each of the groups allows up to 8 participants per day. You can track gorillas, climb the Visoke volcano, track the golden monkeys or visit the Karisoke Research Centre, which Dian Fossey the famous primatologist set up, or visit local villages.

The Parc National des Volcans (PNV) is part of the Virunga Conservation Area and covers more than 125 km▓. PNV is home of fiveá Virunga volcanoes: Sabyinyo (3.674 m), Gahinga (3.474 m), Bisoke (3711 m), Muhabura (4.127 m), and the Karisimbi, the highest volcano with an altitude of 4.507 m. All five volcanoes are extinct, the active ones are located in Congo. Two of them erupted recently; the Nyiragongo erupted in January 2002 and Nyamulangira in July 2002. Visa fees to Congo through Uganda only US$100, total visa fees for above tour through Uganda and back to Rwanda US$210.
